Tackling Fraud 2013
INTEC Annual Fraud Event ** VENUE UPDATE **
18th & 19th September (Horwood House Hotel, Milton Keynes)
Fraud, partnerships, debts & enforcement
The initial interest in this year’s event has been better than expected so we would encourage you to book now before all places are taken!
VENUE UPDATE: Due to the excellent feedback from our last event, we have now been able to secure the Horwood House Hotel in Milton Keynes. The venue has now become available so we have switched from the Uplands in Bucks. We will shortly be updating the agenda further with some additional speaker confirmations.
Every local authority is facing cut backs on funding and their services and in this challenging time, fraud detection, enforcement and collections are being scrutinised for every penny they spend whilst still being expected to improve detection rates. As always this year’s event will have speakers from a wide variety of backgrounds all of which are proven experts in their fields.
As you know it is estimated that £2b is lost to local government through fraud and error each year and some of the more distressing facts are:
"Every single adult living in the UK loses on average £1,460 a year through fraud"
"In 2012, 98,000 homes were subject to tenancy fraud (and not all LA’s are investigating this problem)"
"£890m a year is lost through procurement fraud each year (again an area not everyone is looking at)"
Unlike other events there will be no exhibitors or trade stands ensuring the two days are dedicated entirely to you the delegate.
Our confirmed speakers include:
- Cllr Lindsey Hall (Westminster City Council)
- Baroness Hanham (Local Approach to tackling Debt, Fraud and Error
- Trevor Bedemen (Principles of Reciprocity)
- David Gibbens (Empty Homes Network)
- Debbie Gibbons (LAIOG National Chair)
- Andrew Fleming (Economic Crime Unit)
- Andy Hyatt (Bi-Borough Head of Investigations)
- And many other leading experts in their fields.
With options to attend either day (for just £80) or the full two days (including accommodation on the 18th and evening meal for just £249) we have made sure that the cost is hugely competitive.
As always, this event is open to fraud professionals from local government, the housing sector; trading standards and other investigate roles. Places are limited due to room availability in the hotel, and we have maximum occupancy for the meeting of 150. We therefore advise that you confirm your places early to avoid disappointment.
