Land Data Announce 2013 National Local Land Charges Awards for Excellence Shortlist

Land Data announced the winners of the 2013 Local Land Charges Awards for Excellence last night. The national awards celebrate the work and achievements of local authority local land charges departments which carry out the land and property searches required for conveyancing transactions in England and Wales.

 The winners of the awards were announced at an awards dinner held in Bristol, and presented by TV and radio presenter Paul Ross. The Awards cover six categories recognising customer satisfaction, most improved NLIS service, best NLIS local land charges department, local land charges officer of the year and a special tribute award.  Over 130 representatives from local land charges teams across the country attended the event. 

 The 2013 winners:

Customer Satisfaction for Local Authority Searches

Winner: Wakefield Metropolitan District Council

Highly commended: Birmingham City Council

 

Most Improved NLIS Services

Winner: West Lindsey District Council

Highly commended: Chorley Borough Council

 

Local Land Charges Officer of the Year

Winner: Vincent Hindley, Rossendale Borough Council

Highly commended: Amanda Harcourt, City of London Corporation

 

Best Performing NLIS Level 3 Local Land Charges Department

Winner: Westminster City Council

Highly commended: Torridge District Council

 

Best Performing NLIS Level 2 Local Land Charges Department

Winner: North Devon Council

Highly commended: Stevenage Borough Council

 

Special Tribute Award

Winner: Shirley Crook, London Borough of Croydon

 

Jan Boothroyd, Chief Executive of Land Data commented: “Local communities rely on local government to deliver essential services that make a real difference to people’s quality of life.  Finding new ways to deliver an improved local land charges service without increasing cost, is a challenge that all of tonight’s winners achieved, congratulations to everyone involved. ”

 The awards were sponsored by the National Land Information Service (NLIS), SearchFlow, Thames Water Property Searches, the Local Land Charges Institute and TM Group (UK).
