Capita’s 5th National Implementing the Pupil Premium Conference is perfectly timed to address the critical implementation challenges facing schools and local authorities as they decide how the pupil premium grant should best be spent. Ofsted’s recent report published in February 2013, The Pupil Premium: How schools are spending the funding successfully to maximise achievement indicated their concerns that schools are still struggling to evidence how the money is making meaningful impact to help narrow the attainment gap between pupils from low income families and their more affluent peers.
With the pupil premium rising in April 2013 from £600 to £900 per eligible pupil, it is essential for schools to understand how this resource can effectively meet the needs of pupils receiving free school meals, those in care and those from service families. Conference sessions will cover key issues and themes including:
- Understanding the needs of pupils and developing suitable interventions
- Research-led approaches that make a difference
- Demonstrating impact and measuring outcomes
