Council deny Labour had hand in under-2s' breakfast charges
Westminster City Council is to scrap breakfast charges for homeless under-2s living in B&Bs.
Westminster's Labour councillors declared victory last week, claiming that they persuaded the council to stop charging homeless families £3.06 a week for their 2-year-olds' breakfasts.
The council has denied that Labour councillors had any hand in the decision to scrap the charges.
It was claimed that Councillor Adam Hug's "strong representations" had led to the decision.
However, a spokesperson for Westminster Council said that the council was unaware of any "strong representations" from Councillor Hug.
The council did confirm that it has been decided in principle to scrap the charges.
A council spokesperson said: "The council constantly reviews it charges and helps where it can to assist families living in B&B accommodation."
