Thamesbank Credit Union has now registered its new rulebook with the FSA outlining in it the expanded area of operation which now includes Wandsworth, Hounslow, Kingston upon Thames, Richmond upon Thames and Spelthorne.
Three years ago it tried to add Wandsworth to its common bond without success but with the Credit Union Legislative Reform Order in place it has now made the expansion much easier.
Graham Tomlin, Director of Credit Union Solutions which is Thamesbank’s administrators, said.
“ Three years ago when we tried to add Wandsworth to our common bond no other credit unions were interested in serving the borough, now with the LRO there is much more interest in serving Wandsworth.
Thamesbank hopes to partner with Wandsworth Council, Registered Social Landlords there and the University but either way it is in Wandsworth to stay and will continue to develop its membership across the boroughs that it now covers.
Over the last few years it has developed into Richmond Council, Richmond Housing Partnership and Hounslow & Richmond PCT. It continues to seek out new partners and is discussing the possibility of developing and increasing Corporate Members of the Credit Union.”
Thamesbank Credit Union is able to take into membership anyone that either lives or works in the following:
Wandsworth, Hounslow, Kingston upon Thames, Richmond upon Thames and Spelthorne.
