Repair 1st help spruce up York Street Community Centre

In July, staff from Stockport Homes’ Repair 1^st Team pulled on their overalls, got a paint brush in their hands and gave up their time to help paint the York Street Community Centre. 

The York Street Tenant and Resident Group raised enough funds to buy the paint to spruce up the centre through bingo, football cards and raffles, but they didn’t have enough money to pay for someone to do the painting. Repair 1^st staff members responded to the DIY SOS call and volunteered to help paint the centre for free.

Lyn Ellis, Treasurer, York Street Tenant and Resident Group said, “Thank you to the Repair 1^st staff who gave up their time to help re-paint the community centre. They did a fantastic job and the centre now looks like a shiny new penny.” 

Mark Halstead, Customer and Community Manager, Repair 1^st said, “The York Street Community Centre provides such a valuable resource, so it was great that we could help give the centre a lick of paint.”
