July and September 2012

The TCPA and Andrew Ross are undertaking a project which builds on our existing knowledge of the influence of planning on health inequalities and the quality of homes and communities. The project aims to provide an understanding and pathway on how to reunite health with planning in the context of the government’s reforms to planning (Localism Act and NPPF), health and social care (Health and Social Care Act), and housing policy (NPPF and the Housing Strategy), and why they matter through a series of case studies.

Following the launch of the handbook on 12th July, a series of five seminars will be held in Bristol, Luton, Sandwell, Knowsley and Gateshead in July and September. The regional events will launch the handbook for practitioners based in those regions, with presentations and workshops to improve understanding of the implications for the health of the region of the changes to the planning system and the reforms of the NHS, and work through the practicalities for planning policy and development management. To register for the regional seminars please go to the TCPA’s events page for direct links to registrations at www.tcpa.org.uk/events.php?action=event&id=50
