(L-R) Home-Start York's Gill Wadsworth recieves Partners' 2011 Christmas donation from director Karen Nixon.
York PR agency The Partners Group has donated £300 to a local charity that supports isolated, bereaved and ill parents with pre-school age children.
The Partners Group made the Christmas gift to Home-Start York as part of its 23-year history of supporting good causes.
Home-Start York recruits, trains and supports volunteers who are parents themselves to visit families at home for a few hours each week. The volunteers offer practical and emotional support according to the needs of individual families. The charity supports families who are experiencing a range of difficulties including post-natal depression, disability, bereavement, illness and isolation. The volunteers work alongside parents building their confidence and ability to cope, supporting them to improve outcomes for their children.
Gill Wadsworth, senior organiser at Home-Start York said: “We are very grateful to The Partners Group for their generous donation. The volunteers give their time free of charge but we pay for things like travelling expenses, so this donation will go towards paying for these costs, which will in turn help us to help more families in need.”
Home-Start York has been supporting families in the city for over 20 years. Families are referred by other professionals such as health visitors, midwives and social workers or they can refer themselves. Last year the charity supported 112 families including 191 children aged under five years and 33 children aged five years and over. It currently has a team of 28 home-visiting volunteers and will be recruiting again in the New Year.
Karen Nixon, director of The Partners Group said: “Christmas is a time of year when families come together and we are pleased to support a charity that is making such a huge difference to the lives of local families.”
Over the last two decades, The Partners Group has supported many local charities including the Special Care Baby Unit at York Hospital, York Against Cancer, the Stroke Association, York Nightstop, the MS Society York and District branch, York Women’s Aid Refuge, Woodlands Resource and Respite Care Centre, Lidgett Grove School and food parcels for the homeless in the city.
The Partners Group specialises in creative PR and marketing communications work across a range of sectors, working with a client base that spans the whole of the UK. The firm can also provide international publicity support through its membership of the IPRTeam international PR network.
