The Art House is just one venue to install one Clos-o-Mat to serve all
Designers and specifiers of internal public, commercial and leisure environments can deliver better inclusivity for less impact on space and budget through a unique offering from Total Hygiene.
The UK company’s innovative Clos-o-Mat ‘wash and dry’ toilet range means that with just one WC, differing disability, age, cultural and religious needs can ALL be met.
Looking and functioning like a conventional toilet, the Clos-o-Mat is the only one of its kind developed specifically for disabled people, and with WRAS approval to enable legal connection to the mains water supply. Yet it has added value: integral douche and drier facilities triggered simply by maintaining hand or body pressure on the flush pads cleanse the user after toileting without the need to manually use toilet tissue; this not only simplifies toileting for anyone with issues affecting balance or manual dexterity but also accommodates Islamic Qadaahul Haajah.
To further optimize inclusivity, Total Hygiene has developed two versions, the standard contemporary styled Clos-o-Mat Palma Vita, and the height adjustable Clos-o-Mat Lima Lift, both of which can be provided via a choice of supply options- outright purchase, rental or reconditioned.
Robin Tuffley, Total Hygiene marketing manager, says, “Everyone has to go to the toilet, and on average we ‘go’ up to eight times a day! There are approx 10.5million people registered disabled people, and 2.5+million Muslims in the UK. Some 1 in 5 of the British adult population suffers from arthritis; our society is increasingly ageing. The ability of all these people to access appropriate personal hygiene- a basic human right- is compromised especially when trying to undertake everyday life outside of the home environment. Installation of a Clos-o-Mat goes a long way to removing those barriers, meeting the needs of many more people than traditional WC’s and accessible toilets. In some instances, one Clos-o-Mat facility has been installed in place of a separate male, female and accessible toilet reducing capital and labour costs, and freeing floorspace for revenue-generating activity.”
The Clos-o-Mat is manufactured in the UK exclusively by Total Hygiene, and is the only disabled toilet supported with comprehensive, nationwide service and maintenance. Total Hygiene has 50 years’ experience with over 40,000 Clos-o-Mats installed, some of which are still in regular use 30 years after first fitted!
