Northgate Public Services today announces the appointment of Charles Clark as Sales Director for Social Care as the company gears up its response to the growing need for personalised and integrated health and social care services in a challenging economic environment.

Charles, a highly seasoned professional in social care and local government, with 25 years of experience in the public services market, joins Northgate from SAP. Prior to this he was one of three founding Directors who set up Sheridan Systems, a leading provider of social care solutions that was eventually acquired by Anite in 2000. Anite Public Sector was subsequently bought by Northgate in 2008 as part of its strategy to support public service innovation through entering the social care market.

Charles will use his knowledge and experience to support the growth of Northgate’s combined health and social care business as new patterns of care emerge over future years. The company is committed to ensuring that patients and users voices are heard and acted upon within health and social care, and that they are involved in the design and delivery of services, including preventative services.

The appointment builds on the success of Northgate’s work running national programmes such as the Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES) service, Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMs) and world class child and adult screening programmes such as the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP), while working at a local level with local authorities through its adult and children’s social care services.

Ian Blackhurst, Managing Director, Northgate Public Services, said today: “We wholeheartedly support radical measures to transform the way that health and social care is delivered. It must be wrapped around the needs of users and wherever possible designed and delivered in the community. With local authorities taking on new responsibilities for public health, it is essential that these are integrated with health and social care to create positive outcomes that put the citizen at their heart.”

“We are delighted that Charles has joined us. We are ambitious for our health and social care business. This senior appointment will help us develop innovative responses to health and social care needs – working in new ways with our clients and their partners and reaching out to those who are most disadvantaged in our communities."
