Croydon’s character up for debate as part of the London Festival of Architecture

Croydon’s architecture is unlike anywhere else, it has a character all of its own. But how would you describe that character? What is ‘Croydon-ness’ exactly?

The London Festival of Architecture is now well underway and Croydon Council are joining forces with Croydon EDC to host an event which will invite guests to discuss what it is which marks Croydon’s landscape out from all others.

The evening debate, entitled, ‘A Retroactive Manifesto for Croydon-ness’, is taking place at Studio Egret West in London EC1, on Thursday 1 July from 6.30 to 9pm.

A number of teams involved with the design of Croydon present their personal ‘Manifesto for Croydon-ness’. This will be followed by an open discussion to tease out the key ingredients of Croydon’s unique character.

Taking part, amongst others, will be representatives from top architects, Studio Egret West, East, Maccreanor Lavington, Make and OKRA as well as members of Croydon Council’s Urban Design and Conservation Team. It promises to be a lively debate and an interesting evening for anyone who has a passion for architecture and urban design.
