Muir housing association will build 60 affordable homes in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Chester West and Warrington after successfully requesting a grant of £2.21 million from the Homes and Communities Agency.
The bid was part of a larger consortium bid led by the Accent Group, which has received an allocation of £18.7m to build 748 new homes.
Muir’s investment will see 37 new units being built in Huntington, Cambridgeshire and South Kesteven in Lincolnshire. There will be a further 23 units in the north west Region with 7 in Chester West and 16 in Warrington.
Muir development director David Robinson said: "These are areas that we’ve identified as having a real need for good quality, affordable homes, so we are delighted that we are able to secure this funding. In the current economic climate, it’s proving more and more difficult for people to get onto the property ladder so we have a duty provide the right homes for local people."
