Aksa Homes celebrate Love your Neighbourhood with tenants
100 balloons attached with neighbourhood pledges from residents were released to mark the end of a campaign to improve communities. Aksa Homes organised the event in one of their Neighbourhoods, Trafalgar Square, Ashton to celebrate the final day of its 100 day ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’ project.
The last week of the project saw Aksa Homes embark on the ‘Great Homes Bus’ Grand Finale tour. This covered their 6 neighbourhood areas and culminated in a fun interactive day for residents who attached promise cards to the balloons with their aims, achievements and aspirations for their homes and communities. It also included a visit by mascot Nora The Owl, a game in the style of ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’, lucky dip prizes and much more.
The 100 Day ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’ campaign, which commenced in April, saw a wide range of events delivered across Aksa Homes’ six neighbourhoods. Over 100 activities were carefully designed aimed at encouraging volunteering for all age groups, supporting active citizenship and positive resident contribution to make a difference in their communities.
Commenting on the campaign Mushtaq Khan, Director at Aksa Homes said: “We are so pleased with how successful the campaign has been and how well our residents have got involved. We launched our ‘Neighbourhood Plans’ over one year ago and wanted to go out into our neighbourhoods to show our residents that this campaign is enhancing the work already started.”
Mushtaq adds: “The attendances and interaction at the events has been much more than we could have hoped for. I want to thank our residents for playing their part; we are now looking at how we can take this campaign forward.”
The activities delivered during the ‘100 Day - Love your neighbourhood’ campaign included the launch of Aksa Homes’ new ‘Neighbourhood Network’, gardening tips with Green Charter, advice on healthy living, free smoke alarm testing, children’s fun days (with Play Street Oldham), finding out how to save money and the environment by recycling, the promoting of clean streets and how to make your neighbourhood bloom.
