Nottinghamshire's Newark and Sherwood Homes has appointed a new chair for its board.

The ALMO's directors nominated Lynn Clayton at a board meeting in July.

Ms Clayton has been an independent director of the provider's board since 2006, and has also been chair of the company’s audit and finance committees.

She is also managing director of Gedling Homes, part of the New Charter Housing Trust Group, and has over 25 years’ experience in the social housing sector, having worked for both local authorities and housing associations.

Ms Clayton said: “Having been a board member of Newark and Sherwood Homes for the past eight years, I am looking forward to the challenge and responsibilities of being chair.”

Previous chair of the board Ginette Hughes stepped down from in June, due to ill health.

Newark and Sherwood Homes was set up by Newark and Sherwood District Council in 2004 to manage, maintain and improve the local authority's 5,500 residential properties.
