Soha did a Big Door Knock: so what? Soha did a Big Door Knock: so what?

When every staff member from every department within Soha Housing left their desks for the company’s “Big Door Knock” on 4 July, the aim was to receive feedback from tenants and provide information.

850 households from Swindon across to the Reading border — or nearly 14% of Soha’s stock — were visited in two and a half hours.

Rodney Clarke of Berinsfield, pictured, was called on by Head of Housing Jude McCaffrey and Business Administration Apprentice Kimberley Hughes.  Rodney was delighted when one of the questions on the Officers’ short survey was whether there were any aids or adaptations which would make a tenant’s life easier in their Soha home.

“Disability means that reaching my patio from my back door is a matter of holding on very carefully to something or someone to help myself down”, says Rodney.  “I said I could do with a grab rail and the Soha people said they’d look into it.

“That was 4 July. On 16th, a rail was fitted and the job was signed off by the Quality Controller on 17th.  It’s taken less than two weeks to be able to get to my garden in safety and comfort.  I’m really glad I was in when Soha came “Big Door Knock”-ing!”
