A private rented sector tenant has been given an anti-social behaviour injunction after making threats of violence towards a neighbour living in social housing.

Social landlord Magenta Living successfully obtained the injunction at Birkenhead County Court to protect its tenant.

The private resident, from Darleydale Drive, Eastham, played loud music, made a lot of noise in her property and would fight with visitors to her home.

Sam Cummins, Magenta Living tenancy enforcement officer, said: “This resident thought that, because she wasn’t a tenant of ours, there was nothing we could do to prevent her abusive behaviour. We will do everything within our power to protect our residents. This was a terrifying ordeal for our tenant, in which her property was attacked and threats were made against her life.

“We applied for an anti-social behaviour injunction that prevents this private resident from making any further threats. This has a power of arrest attached, meaning if she breaks one of the conditions, she could be jailed. We are very pleased with this outcome.”

Since bringing its anti-social behaviour services in-house in 2010, Magenta Living’s tenancy enforcement team has recently achieved Housemark’s ASB accreditation.
