A couple's attempt to get retrospective planning permission on their eco-friendly 'hobbit home' has failed.

The unusual home in Crymych, Pembrokeshire now faces demolition, though owners Megan Williams and Charlie Hague have six months to appeal.

Though nine of Pembrokeshire council's planning committee members voted against giving the couple retrospective planning permission, councillor Keith Lewis was applauded during a public meeting when he pointed out that there were no local objections to the house and the couple were "ahead of the game in many ways".

The couple have argued that their home has a small environmental impact.
