Progress Housing Group has secured £2.1m from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to deliver 80 high quality, efficient and affordable homes across Lancashire.
The funding is part of the first phase of the Government’s Affordable Housing Programme, which aims to deliver 165,000 new affordable homes in England over three years from 2015.
Progress Housing Group will work in partnership with local authorities to deliver the new homes, with suitable sites already identified across Lancashire.
This latest allocation is in addition to the Group’s £24m development programme for the current financial year.
The HCA funding has been secured through the Riverside Consortium, which is a group of four housing associations in the region who have joined forces to bid for funding.
Jacqui De Rose, Chief Executive of Progress Housing Group, said: “This is great news for Progress Housing Group; we’re delighted with this £2.1M funding allocation from the HCA, which will enable us to deliver 80 new homes for affordable rent in key areas of need in Lancashire.
As one of the top 50 developing Housing Associations in the UK, we are committed to tackling the chronic housing shortage in the areas in which we work. This funding is a further boost to our housing development programme, which will enable us to deliver high quality, efficient and affordable homes to local people who need them the most.
