Lynwood House in Lanchester is expected to open next month
North Durham housing provider, Derwentside Homes has opened the doors to a brand new show apartment at its flagship sheltered housing scheme in Lanchester, Co. Durham.
The apartment is one of 34 two bedroom en-suite apartments at Lynwood House with 13 available for sale and the rest offered for Affordable Rent through Derwentside Homes.
The £6 million development, which has received support from the Homes and Communities Agency, has been constructed to meet the Code for Sustainable Homes level 3 with 10% of the energy generated to run the building to be sourced from sustainable sources.
Also on site is Lanchester Medical Centre, a new state of the art medical centre, which recently relocated from within the village. Assura Medical Centres Limited, who manage the surgery, has worked closely with Derwentside Homes to provide a modern, sustainable building that meets the short and long term requirements of the existing surgery.
Derwentside Homes has offered local groups the use of an office space within the development including the provision of the communal lounge for community activities.
Two bedroom apartments, which are available for the over 55’s, can be purchased at a cost of £140,000 and anyone interested in viewing the show apartment or to find out more information about buying one should contact Joanne or Victoria at Derwentside Homes on 01207 524 215 or 01207 524 332.
Stephen Melvin, Director of Operations at Derwentside Homes, said: “The opening of a new show apartment at Lynwood House is a key milestone in the development and anyone interested in buying one should come and see at first-hand, the high, quality modern homes we have to offer.
“The development provides much needed accommodation for the over 55’s as well as first class community facilities that will benefit the local area. Lynwood House is now our fourth major refurbishment project and we have already received lots of interest from local people wanting to buy and rent these apartments.”
The development has been constructed by Galliford Try Partnerships North and is expected to be completed next month with residents moving in shortly afterwards.
The show flat will be open this Sunday, 27 July between 1.00pm-5.00pm for anyone interested in buying an apartment.
