L&H Homes are celebrating the successful progress of their £20 million investment in Peterborough City Centre. The housing provider’s sizable investment has already resulted in almost 100 new homes in the heart of the city.

Key partners and representatives from Peterborough City Council, Westleigh Developments Ltd, L&H Homes and Longhurst Group met today [15th July] to officially mark the completion of the Hatton Grange site in Windsor Avenue. The brand new development boasts 85 new homes provided by L&H Homes and an additional 32 Westleigh properties. The partners also visited a second development, Lydney Grange in Midland Road, where seven homes have been completed to date with plans for a further 82 by spring 2015.

The rapidly expanding Peterborough population has created an overwhelming demand for affordable housing in the city. L&H Homes is responding to the growing local need by regenerating these two former brownfield sites. Their homes are designed to meet the broad needs of today’s society and both developments include properties for intermediate rent built for people in housing need, as well as shared ownership and Help to Buy properties designed to help people to get onto the housing ladder. After assessing local demand, L&H Homes also decided to provide their first market rent homes to help address the shortfall of quality private rent homes in the city.

To mark the completion of the homes at Hatton Grange, Marco Cereste, Leader of Peterborough City Council, planted a tree and officially declared the site complete saying “I am delighted these homes are now complete and people can move in.

“Having a place to call home is incredibly important and we are happy to work with our partners to help create affordable, good quality homes for people in Peterborough.”

Mike Hardy, Managing Director of L&H Homes said: “We’re enjoying a very successful working relationship with Peterborough City Council and Westleigh Developments.  The regeneration and development of these sites is vital to the city and to L&H Homes, and by providing mixed tenure schemes we are going some way to satisfy a local need for new homes.”
