Community Gateway Association (CGA) tenants and members are celebrating after receiving the fabulous news that the organisation’s annual report, "Inspire People – Inspired Communities" came out on top at the National TPAS awards in the “Excellence in Annual Reports” category.
The TPAS awards focus on showcasing the very best in tenant involvement projects and people from around the country, judged by a panel of industry experts and national leaders in their field.
Following regional success in 2013, CGA's Communications Action Group didn’t think lightning would strike twice, so being shortlisted again in 2014 was a real honour, representing the northern region at the national awards in Royal Leamington Spa.
To be crowned national champion, is a testament to the hard work they put into the project.
The focus of Inspire People - Inspired Communities was to measure the "social value” impact of CGA’s work.
Whether that is building new homes, improving neighbourhoods, collecting rent, making a repair, solving a dispute between neighbours, or helping a community group, The report reflected how CGA creates a real and sustained benefit to communities across Preston.
Tenant involvement starts from day one of the project, from the initial development of the storyboard to choosing the design, allocating budget, they are even involved in writing the content.
As the UK’s first social housing provider to follow the principles of the Community Gateway model, CGA places tenants at the heart of everything it does and this is reflected in the nomination put forward for this year’s awards.
David Yates Chair of the Gateway Tenants’ Committee and Communications Action Group said, “I am extremely proud along with my fellow tenants to have been involved in the creation of “Inspire People, Inspired Communities” I can honestly say that our members have a report that reflects the influence we have at Community Gateway Association.”
