Customer Service accolade for Welwyn Hatfield Community Housing Trust

Welwyn Hatfield Community Housing Trust has announced that it has recently gained accreditation for excellence in its customer services delivery.

The Hertfordshire-based organisation is delighted to have achieved the nationally recognised Customer Service Excellence award – a Government standard that was developed to give organisations the tools to drive customer-focused change, development and continuous improvement.

The Customer Service Excellence standard tests priority areas for customers, with particular focus on delivery, timeliness, information, professionalism and staff attitude. Emphasis is also placed on developing an understanding of customer need and measuring satisfaction.

The Trust manages over 11,000 homes and a number of other housing services on behalf of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.  It was commended for its comprehensive range of welfare and tenancy support services, contract arrangements with its repairs contractor which enable shared savings and profits to  fund service improvements and deliver added value, and its innovative ‘waste cage’ days.

Paul Wren, Chairman of Welwyn Hatfield Community Housing Trust said: “The accreditation underlines that we take our customers seriously and that we are also committed to learning from our experience of working with them to improve the organisation into the future.  It really highlights the excellent work that we are doing for our customers and we are very proud of our achievement.” 

This was the first occasion that the Trust has put itself forward for the Customer Service Excellence standard.
