Newport City Homes has appointed a new chief executive.

Ceri Doyle will take up her new post at the 10,000-home provider from September.

Ms Doyle held the role of interim chief executive of the Big Lottery Fund in 2013 alongside her current role of director of strategy, performance and learning at NCH.

She holds a Master of Town and Regional Planning, Diploma in Town and Country Planning and a BSc(Hons) in Combined Science.

Ms Doyle said: “I am delighted to be offered this role, NCH residents and staff were involved in the recruitment process providing feedback to the Board’s recruitment panel, as well as providing candidates with an invaluable insight into the Association.

"There are many opportunities facing Newport and I look forward to working with residents, the team at NCH and partners in ensuring that residents realise the benefits that our regeneration plans and the development aspirations of the city will bring.”

Chris England, chair NCH's board, said “Our sincere thanks go to Pete Cahill who helped to create our association, has led our team through the challenges of transfer, the delivery of our WHQS programme of works and the fulfilment of the promises in the offer document.

"Our board, residents and staff are now looking forward to working with Ceri and using her experience and knowledge in taking NCH to a new phase, in which we shall continue to strive for excellence, improving performance and making a difference for our residents, communities and the city of Newport."

Current chief executive Pete Cahill, who retires this month, said: “It has been an honour and a privilege to have lead the organisation and although I am sad to leave NCH as we enter the next phase of improving services and neighbourhoods for residents, I am very proud of the achievements made to date.

"My thanks to the board, staff team and partners for their advice and support. I am pleased to welcome Ceri to team NCH and wish her and the organisation every success for the future.”
