Help to build a community

Published by Anonymous for Circle in Housing

A local housing provider is calling for people interested in directing the future of social housing in the West Midlands to apply to join the board.

Circle Housing Mercian, which manages around 3,500 homes, is looking to recruit a new independent board member.

The voluntary role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape the strategy for the organisation which is dedicated to Enhancing the Life Chances of residents by providing great homes, reliable services and building sustainable communities.

People interested in becoming a member of the board must have sound business skills and experience of reviewing financial performance.  An understanding of the social housing sector and risk management would be an advantage.

Steve Robertson, Senior Governance Manager, for Circle Housing said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody with a passion for their local community to make a real difference to people’s lives. Housing is now a high profile national issue and we want somebody who will put our customers’ interests at the heart of the debate.”

Meetings are held six times each year, with several additional discussions and training sessions throughout the year.

Circle Housing Mercian has been building new homes, regenerating communities and helping its residents in the West Midlands for more than 50 years. The provider has a pipeline of around 150 new homes in Birmingham and is actively looking for more sites to build on.
