Genesis Housing Association has signed a £140 million repairs and maintenance deal with service provider Kier.

The four-year deal, brokered by solicitors Sharpe Pritchard, will see Kier deliver planned maintenance, cyclical works and strategic repairs to 30,000 Genesis properties throughout the UK.

Given Genesis’ widely dispersed and varied housing stock, key challenges resolved within the contract were provision of the services in a wide geographical range, ensuring high quality technical expertise and robust performance measures, and a cultural fit with Genesis.

Justin Mendelle of Sharpe Pritchard believes the contract is part of a growing trend. He said: “Taking a strategic approach to housing stock and using innovative contractual arrangements to ensure service providers deliver value to customers is something we are seeing increasingly.

"Customers are at the heart of everything that Genesis does and this is a culturally and commercially successful deal that will deliver high quality services for Genesis and its customers.”
