James Wood, director at Shrewsbury based homebuilder Saxonby, has been appointed to the board of the Shropshire Association of Sheltered Housing (SASH).
Established in 1972 SASH is a provider of comfortable, relaxed and supported accommodation for people with enduring mental health issues. It also offers advice on a number of professional support services, enabling clients to access an individual package tailored to meet their specific needs.
Based on his business knowledge and experience gained as chairperson at Shropshire Housing Alliance, non executive director at household furniture and electrical recycling charity Reviive and group board member at The Wrekin Housing Trust, Wood will be providing advice and direction to the organisation on corporate governance and business planning.
He said: “Housing and supporting people with mental health issues are two subjects I am passionate about. Therefore, I had no hesitation in saying ‘yes’ when asked to join the board at SASH. It offers an important service to the current people it supports in Bridgnorth, Craven Arms and Shrewsbury and I hope that my input will, along with the other volunteer board members, help to enhance the direction in which the charity is moving as well as build upon the positive work it currently carries out.”
