A housing association's chief executive has been shortlisted for a top UK business award for the fourth year running.

Anne Hinchey, CEO of Wales & West Housing Group, has been named one of the top 10 ‘Most People-Focused CEOs’ in the public and voluntary Sector in the Best Companies HR Excellence Awards 2014.

It is the fourth year running that Ms Hinchey has been shortlisted for this award and follows her winning the award outright last year.

She is also the only CEO of a Wales-based not-for-profit organisation to make the shortlist.

The CEO said: “It is incredible that I have been shortlisted for this award again, and I am very humbled by it.

“As I have said previously, I very much regard this not as a personal achievement, but rather a reflection of the wonderful team that I have working with me at Wales & West Housing Group.”

The shortlist is developed in conjunction with workplace engagement specialist Best Companies, which provides HR Magazine with a list of the top 10 CEOs based on employee feedback.

Arvind Hickman, editor of HR Magazine, said: “The prestigious Most People-Focused CEO award celebrates those who have shown exceptionally strong leadership, often in tough economic circumstances.

"Anne is a shining example of a leader who truly understands how to get the most out of her workforce, proven by the fact she has been on our shortlist for four consecutive years now – winning it outright last year. She has shown she is a leader who consistently puts people first.”

This year Wales & West Housing was ranked 5th in the UK in the Sunday Times Best Companies Top 100 Not-For-Profit organisations, a rise of two places on the organisation’s 2013 ranking, making it the top not-for-profit organisation in Wales.

The social landlord manages more than 9,500 affordable properties across 12 local authority areas in Wales, and is on course to build another 1,000 new affordable homes over the next five years.
