Housing association East Thames Group has announced the appointment of a new chief executive.
Earlier this year, current CEO June Barnes announced that she would retire at the end of September 2014 after 15 years of service.
Yvonne Arrowsmith, the current group operations director at Family Mosaic, has now been selected as Ms Barnes successor.
Ms Arrowsmith has huge experience of the housing sector and, having trained as a nurse, care and support too. She’s local to East Thames’ area of operation, having been brought up and schooled in Essex, and as an adult has elected to live and raise her family in the area.
She has worked for Family Mosaic since 1992 when she set up the organisation’s first nursing home in Essex and currently runs its group operations including housing management, supported housing, leasehold management and the contact centre.
Ms Arrowsmith, who is due to join East Thames October 2014, said: "I am delighted to be joining East Thames at a time when the housing, care and support sectors are facing constant challenge; East Thames is in a strong position to meet those challenges and I am looking forward to working with the board, executive team and staff to ensure that the group continues to grow and provide excellent services for the residents of east London and Essex."
Tina Tietjen, chairman, said: "The board and staff of East Thames thank June for her commitment to the business and to the regeneration of east London. Her passion for the area and its people has helped to make the organisation the largest provider of social housing in the area and a significant provider of care services for east Londoners.
“We now look forward to welcoming Yvonne who will lead East Thames into the future."
