A housing association's staff have taken part in a 171-mile cycle tour of key housing schemes across East Anglia - raising more than £4,200 for charity in the process.

The fundraiser, which was organised to celebrate Suffolk Housing’s 40th anniversary while raising money for the neonatal unit at West Suffolk Hospital, saw around 20 riders take to the roads to tour 40 developments over two days.

Around 14 riders completed 13 hours of cycling on the first day, covering 112 miles, while six saddled up for day two, covering 57 miles.

Ian Winslet, chief executive at Suffolk Housing, said: “The cycle ride was a fantastic opportunity to get out into the fresh air, enjoy Suffolk’s wonderful countryside and tour some of our key schemes while raising important funds for the hospital.

“It was also a great opportunity for team building, and I think proved to all of us that Suffolk isn’t quite as flat as everyone thinks!

“We are extremely grateful for all of the support we have received so far, which will make a real difference to premature babies and other newborns using West Suffolk’s neonatal unit.”
