Sara Thakkar to join Wandle Housing Association as Chief Executive
A housing association's chief executive has been placed on leave by her board.
Staff at Wandle have been told that CEO Sara Thakkar will not be returning for the foreseeable future.
It is believed that Ms Thakkar was placed on leave by the board while it investigates certain information it has received concerning her and another member of staff.
Nobody was available for comment at Wandle.
Ms Thakkar was appointed chief executive in May 2009, after leaving the top post at Rosebery Housing Association.
Last month, Wandle made the news after suddenly increasing the prices of some new shared ownership flats by more than £100,000. Buyers who had already agreed costs with Wandle earlier in the year were outraged, which led to a public outcry.
The social landlord eventually backed down and scrapped the hikes.
It is not believed that Ms Thakkar's current situation is connected to the shared ownership fracas.
