Work experience with ML
Local school pupil, Josh Harris is feeling invigorated after spending time learning the ropes with Magenta Living’s Building Services team.
Josh joined Shane Potter, a multi skilled technician and Craig Heron who is in the third and final year of his Joinery apprenticeship, to see what day-to-day working with Magenta Living really entails.
From fixing doors and cupboards to understanding all about health and safety in empty properties, Josh who is in year 10 at Wallasey School thoroughly enjoyed his hands on experience.
Anne Harris, Josh’s mum says: “After spending time out from school to sample the reality of work, Josh is now focussed on doing his best with his GSCE’s and applying for an apprenticeship with Magenta Living. The opportunity to earn while you learn is perfect for Josh!”
15 year old Josh described his placement as a positive experience: “Two days were never the same, we worked in different properties across the Wirral, and I thoroughly enjoyed assisting Shane and Craig with their joinery duties.”
The demand for work experience placements and starting apprenticeship careers with Magenta Living are always massively popular. Chris Boynton Apprentice & Technical Training Manager says: “Work experience often gives young people their first taste of working life, and we have always gone that extra mile to make sure students learn vital skills.”
Each year Magenta Living recruits a new intake of apprentices and offers the chance to gain valuable opportunities to learn skills like administration, I.T and construction, which involves working towards a qualification at Wirral Met College. The recruitment process is stringent, simply because hundreds of applications are received and we are keen to give everyone a fair chance.
