Jean Ann Mills enjoys the Herb-ilicious course.
Stockport Homes’ customers have been learning new skills on a Herb Growing course. The session lasted one day and customers had the opportunity to learn all about how herbs can be a cheap and tasty way to add flavour to your meals and a bit of greenery to your home and garden.
The course was part of the Skills for Life programme that the housing organisation runs free of charge for customers. Stockport Homes has delivered 79 courses to 616 customers as part of Skills for Life in the last year. The courses range from cooking, gardening and computer training to DIY, with many accredited courses.
Jean Ann Mills, one of Stockport Homes’ customers who attended the course said, “I really enjoy the skills for life courses and I have learnt lots. It’s a really good way of meeting new people and learning new skills.”
Chris Hughes, Stockport Homes’ Customer Training Officer, said, “Courses like this teach people practical skills, helps them get out and meet new people and above all else is fun. If our customers enjoy this course there is now the option to take the subject further through a range of accredited Horticulture courses.”
