City West Housing Trust is giving customers a taste of what life will be like at their state-of-the-art extra care facility – by involving them in choosing the food that will go on the menu at their new home.
City West is currently delivering a multi million pound investment to build new homes in Salford. The landlord is due to complete work on the Amblecote Gardens extra care facility in the Autumn and has held a tasting session to give customers the chance to tuck-in to some of the high-quality food that will be on offer, and give feedback on their preferences.
More than 20 customers currently living in extra care accommodation provided by City West were invited along with their families to take part in the afternoon tea event with a chef from Talkington Bates. The company will manage the spacious cafeteria and will be providing freshly prepared, healthy meals for customers every day. The meals will be cooked on site by a qualified chef.
Dorothy Worthington, who will be moving into Amblecote Gardens said: “The menu samples sound very good. I’m looking forward to trying everything and I think it’s great that we’ve been able to visit and try out the food.”
Mary Wedge, Senior Operations Manager at Talkington Bates, said: “This is an exciting new venture for us and we’re looking forward to using fresh seasonal produce and bespoke menus to meet the needs of the customers.”
Amblecote Gardens will offer 66 homes especially designed for customers wanting a secure and easy to manage property.
The facility is part of the wider Amblecote Green development and will have a dedicated onsite support team as well as access to a range of additional support services, providing re-assurance and peace of mind for customers and their families.
Colette McKune, Deputy Chief Executive at City West, said: “Amblecote Gardens has been developed so our customers can live independently, enjoying all the benefits of 21st Century living, while still having easy access to any support they might need.
“When people think of extra care they don’t often think of state-of-the-art designs or healthy meals prepared on site by top chefs, but we want to change those perceptions.
“Every aspect of this new facility has been designed to create the best possible living experience for our customers and we are looking forward welcoming people to their new homes later in the year.”
