Equity Housing Group, based in Stockport, has announced the appointment of its new Chair.
Carole Hassan, has succeeded Brian Ashfield, who recently stood down after 6 years in the role.
Equity has recently undergone huge transformational change, unveiling new branding as well as a range of exciting new services. This includes the launch of its ethical estate agency, Equity Living and the Equity Foundation, which in less than 12 months, has invested £170,000 in local community projects.
The Group received over 180 applications to join its Board. Both the volume and the high calibre of applicants reflects the Group’s growing reputation within the housing sector.
Throughout her career, Carole Hassan has achieved success in a series of senior roles. These include being Chief Executive of two local authorities, Watford and Trafford, where she built a reputation for transformational leadership. More recently, Carole was Chief Executive of Local Government Yorkshire and Humber and been a Board member of Golden Gates Housing Trust in Warrington for 9 years.
Equity’s Chief Executive, David Fisher, said: “Carole has a proven track record for developing innovative and enterprising organisational cultures. She will be a huge asset to both the Board and the Group in achieving our inspiring new vision and future growth aspirations.”
Carole Hassan said: “What really attracted me to this role was the way that Equity challenges the boundary between renting and owning your own home. The Group has a huge appetite for providing innovative solutions and services, rather than merely managing the status quo. It’s an approach I’ve been committed to throughout my career.”
