Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) has this week announced the launch of the latest round of its Community Sponsorship Fund.

Now in its fourth year, the fund is open to individuals, resident and community groups, charitable organisations and social enterprises working in and around areas where GGHT has homes. Through efficiency savings made across the Trust, GGHT have committed a further £15,000 to the fund over the next 12 months.

Applying for funding is really easy and bids of up to £500 are welcomed to help pay towards events, activities, equipment, venue hire, training sessions and much more. Anyone who has an idea is invited to check out the Trust’s website for more information and to download an application form www.gght.org.uk/gghtfunding.

In 2013/14 GGHT awarded funding to 62 groups, supporting projects which have included arts, dance and drama groups, equipment for community facilities, safety projects, community fun days, sports clubs and activities for both older and young people.

The Hand On Heart charity received £500 to part fund a defibrillator to be placed in a Warrington school. Anne Jones, Headteacher at Woolston CE Primary School, said: “We are very grateful for the donation of a defibrillator for our school. We hope we never have to use it but realise that if the situation arose it could help us to save somebody’s life. Thank you again to GGHT for their very kind donation.”

Vikki Jones, GGHT Regeneration Officer, said: “All you need is a good idea! There is plenty of time for people to apply with four rounds of applications over the next year.  We have put together lots of useful information on our website on how to apply and what makes a good bid and we are more than happy to help anyone develop their ideas and complete the application.”
