Eviction for Wallasey mum
A social landlord is offering its tenants who are facing eviction the option to attend a 'tenancy awareness' course.
Red Kite Community Housing is giving those who have been served with a notice of seeking possession and who are not acting in line with their tenancy the opportunity to take part in the two-hour course instead.
The 6,700-home provider believes that it is best to give tenants a second chance, rather than have them evicted from their homes.
During the course, the first of its kind to be offered by a social landlord, residents will be reminded of their tenancy conditions and told what is expected of them as tenants - and what they can expect from Red Kite in return.
Anti-social behaviour manager Adam Rigg said: "By giving them the option of attending a two-hour course, rather than moving ahead with possession proceedings (e.g. because of anti-social behaviour or rent arrears), they can avoid legal action and get that second chance they often need."
