Thanks to funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Stockport Homes and Stockport Council have worked in close partnership to deliver a further 18 two and three bedroom shared ownership properties.
Last week saw the official opening of the new properties by the Mayor of Stockport who said: “It was a pleasure to officially open these affordable shared ownership properties. It shows that Stockport Homes do good work in the community. These houses are well proportioned and are fitted out very well in the kitchen and bathroom. They have fantastic views from the back windows and the gardens have potential for any use. I remember the area well as I grew up round the corner and I used to play on the fields and woods that are behind the houses.”
Local Councillor Alanna Vine, who is also a Board member of Stockport Homes, said at the opening: "Today is just the start of many more affordable homes planned across the Borough and it is very exciting to be part of the work that Stockport Homes is doing to help people get on the housing ladder for the first time.”
The properties on Essex Road start from £60,000 for a 50 per cent stake with £32 rent on the remaining stake, payable per week to Stockport Homes. The completion date is spring 2014.
