Stockport Homes offers its own bespoke accredited programme

Following seven years of Stockport Homes’ award winning ‘Skills for Life’ training courses for its customers, it has been recognised as an accredited learning centre and is now offering its first bespoke qualification the ‘Stockport Homes Level 2 Certificate in Participation’.
Stockport Homes’ ‘Skills for Life courses’ cover topics from DIY and IT skills to money management and beauty training.
Chris Hughes, Customer Training Officer at Stockport Homes explains what this means for customers: “The accreditation adds value to the training and formally recognises the work of attendees. We have offered accredited courses previously as part of Skills for Life, but the precise and various needs of our customers mean that relevant courses were not always available. This accredited course gives our customers the essential skills and knowledge they need to actively participate more in their communities or any voluntary role.”
The programme is designed to be flexible and modular with no tests or homework so the course can be delivered in a number of stages.
The first course, which is full, is due to starts today (2 April 2014) and was designed by a variety of customer groups and staff to ensure specific requirements were met.
