National construction company Bullock has announced plans to provide access to land for housing associations looking to build.

The firm has been working with some of the UK's largest housing associations to determine how, in partnership, they can bolster housing provision across the country.

And according to Bullock's new chief executive Ian Burnett the consensus amongst many of them is to bring forward viable and affordable land which housing associations can then develop.

“We’ve been working for many months now with housing associations up and down the country consulting on the best way to develop more, much needed, social housing developments across England and Wales," Burnett explains.

"Bullock always has access to off market land and, as such, we can work closely with housing associations securing prime sites that are very often – due to their liquidated status - very affordable.

“We think there is a market opportunity here. More and more people are looking for quality, affordable social housing. We are very much looking to develop a model that takes the stress away from housing associations of finding the land and processing the planning applications right through to the build of developments that meet the demands of the local community needs."

Bullock already has strong credentials in the social housing market, having scooped a Housing Excellence Award for schemes including the Barton Village Development in Salford, developed in partnership with City West Housing Trust.
