The new chief executive of housing association the Regenda Group has said that the social landlord will strive to "make the North West a better place to live".
Michael Birkett, who started his new role at the 11,000-home provider on Monday, said that Regenda has a "clear vision for the future", one which he is now dedicated to help become a reality.
Liverpool-born, Mr Birkett was previously chief executive of The Calico Group, which he transformed from a single social landlord based in one local authority to a group of five companies. He increased staffing from 180 to 475 and is credited with doubling turnover.
Mr Birkett said: “I am delighted to be working with a forward-thinking and courageous organisation that has an obvious commitment to and a proven track record of delivering innovative services that help transform the lives of their residents and the wider community.
"All housing groups are facing challenges, but Regenda is meeting those challenges head-on with robust planning and diversification. I look forward to leading Regenda forward, growing and seizing exciting new opportunities along the way.”
