Aksa Homes Team ready for International Women's Day Event
International Women’s Day is held annually on March 8th and celebrated throughout the world. To help mark the occasion this year Oldham-based Aksa Homes hosted an event, for women across the region from all cultures, at the E3 Business & Enterprise Hub, Earl Mill, Dowry Street, Oldham.
The theme for the event, fully funded by Aksa Homes, was around mind, body and soul and how working collectively can create a healthier region.
Aksa Homes Project Manager, Georgina Nolan, said: “Health and wellbeing matters to everyone whatever their background, job or interests. We all have one thing in common, we want to stay healthy and feel good which is why we themed our event this year around healthy living”.
Mushtaq Khan Director at Aksa Homes adds: “We provide homes for a diversity of residents from a cross range of cultures and backgrounds and we wanted to show in a fun and interesting way how to stay fit and well.”
There were 3 speakers invited to address the guests, Aksa chair Georgia Parker, the chair of Threshold Annie Hopley, and guest speaker Alison Hornsby, founder and managing director of The Enterprise Centre.
On completion of the speeches the guests had the opportunity to visit a variety of workshops run by Aksa, Threshold, Biochemist & Corporate Health Expert Jeannette Jackson and the NHS.
To keep with the healthy theme the guests had the opportunity to try their hand, or should that be waist at hula hooping and Zumba and also have their cholesterol checked.
