Social landlord Calico has appointed a new group chief executive.
Anthony Duerden, a qualified accountant, had previously been Calico's head of finance before moving into asset management.
Mr Duerden said: “Calico is a growing company, despite challenging economic times. I am committed to helping the Calico Group make the most of the opportunities in every sector in which we operate, whilst continuing to improve our quality of service and customer care.
“One thing that will be critical to Calico's continued success is its excellent workforce, who have been the driver behind every achievement, and it is a pleasure to be appointed chief executive of Calico.
“Calico is a wonderful company with a great history, and I am excited to build upon a legacy of job creation, innovation and the difference we’ve made to thousands of lives across the region. I am confident that, moving forward, we will continue to do exactly that.”
The new CEO also paid tribute to his predecessor, Dr Michael Birkett. “On behalf of Calico, I’d like to thank Michael for everything he’s helped us achieve. I can only follow the wonderful example he’s set.”
Lesley Burrows, chair of Calico’s board, said: “Anthony has impressed throughout the process with his grasp of the challenges and opportunities facing Calico and has a clear vision of how the organisation will develop under his leadership.
“I am absolutely confident that Anthony will do a fantastic job leading Calico to even greater things.”
