Magenta Living’s Financial Inclusion Team has helped Wirral tenants access more than £2 million of benefits and grants they did not know they were entitled to.
The £2,024,653 was accessed between April and December 2013.
Financial Inclusion Manager Anita Kenton said: “Our team has worked really hard to support tenants who were struggling with what they were entitled to and introduced them to other benefits and grants they could access.
“Our work has allowed tenants to pay their rent and remain in their homes. Magenta Living’s income is the rent paid by its tenants and that money is used to fund the various services we offer including repairs, our 24-hour contact centre and supported housing.
“Achieving more than £2 million in just nine months is outstanding. Magenta Living is much more than bricks and mortar – we help our tenants on a daily basis and we are delighted to have been able to support them in these challenging financial times.
“Magenta Living residents are able to access a service that maximises their income, sustains tenancies and changes lives”.
Brian Simpson, Chief Executive of Magenta Living, said: “I am delighted that the work of our Financial Inclusion Team has delivered such a substantial result for our tenants.
“We see our role as enabling tenants to sustain their tenancies while helping them with benefit claims, finding cheaper energy suppliers, supporting them in their search for work and in any other way we can.”
