Yorkshire Housing has responded to an appeal by an international charity to expand its work with partners in projects in Africa and Asia.
Chair Jim Taylor presented Homeless International’s Chief Executive Larry English with a cheque for £25,000 at a regional supporters’ dinner at the Marriott Hotel, Leeds.
Jim said: “We applaud Homeless International’s model of providing organisational support, project technical assistance and funding to assist delivering sustainable housing and infrastructure for the urban poor.
“Yorkshire Housing is delighted to make this donation and we encourage others to follow our lead.”
Larry added: “We were thrilled to receive this fantastic donation from Yorkshire Housing. The UK social housing sector has been behind our work since our beginning and the continued support of organisations like Yorkshire Housing is vital to us in helping to deliver housing and basic services for people living in slums.”
UK based Homeless International supports slum dwellers to improve their lives and find lasting solutions to urban poverty. The charity was founded by housing associations and housing professionals in 1987.
