Ian Thomson from HomeSwapper and Cathy Hughes, One Vision Housing’s Home Swapper Officer, help a family complete their match making application.
This Valentine’s Day, One Vision Housing organised a speed dating style event – to help local people find the home of their dreams.
The event was a great success with a number of people attending, eager to find the home that meets their family’s needs. Professionals from the HomeSwapper home exchange service, and from a number of local housing associations were on hand, providing valuable information and advice.
Home swapping has become extremely popular of late, particularly since the introduction of the Bedroom Tax, with many people hoping to downsize to avoid the under occupancy charges.
For this reason, back in June 2012 One Vision created a ‘Home Swapper Officer’ role. It involves helping people to register on HomeSwapper.co.uk, supporting them as they shortlist properties that match their requirements, and helping with the actual move.
Cathy Hughes, One Vision Housing’s Home Swapper Officer, said: “Home Swapping is a new initiative, but becoming more popular all the time. Everyone is looking for something different, so there’s always a chance of finding a match. Anyone who is struggling to find the right home should definitely get in touch.”
Since June 2012 One Vision Housing has assisted 104 households to swap homes, with many more still progressing.
