An affordable housing contractor has celebrated the completion of its 500th kitchen for West Lancashire Borough Council as part of a £65 million programme of housing improvements by the local authority.
Approximately 1,300 of the council's properties will benefit from brand new kitchens in the current financial year, 650 of which will be provided by contractor Wates Living Space.
Joining Wates and the council to celebrate the milestone were tenants Gerald and Brenda Sixsmith. They were presented with a healthy grilling machine from Wates for their new kitchen to mark the occasion.
Brenda Sixsmith said: “Work was carried out so quickly and smoothly that we barely noticed it happening and now we have been presented with this fantastic new kitchen and a brand new Grill to boot. I can’t thank Wates and the council enough for all their hard work.”
Lee Sale, Wates business manager for the North West, added: “It is with great pride that we reach yet another substantial milestone in our work for West Lancashire Borough Council. Construction is progressing apace enabling us to help Council tenants to benefit from their new kitchens earlier than expected. We wanted to mark this achievement by presenting Mr and Mrs Sixsmith with a healthy grilling machine to enjoy in their new kitchen.”
