The number of tenants forcibly evicted from their homes reached record levels across England and Wales last year, official statistics have revealed.
According to the Ministry of Justice's figures, 37,739 tenants in the private rented sector and in social housing had their properties repossessed in 2013 - the highest amount since 2000, the year records began.
In contrast, it was revealed today that the number of homes being repossessed because of mortgage problems in 2013 was at its lowest in six years.
