Giving local youngsters somewhere to go and something to do is an important focus for Friendship Care and Housing (Friendship).

On Friday 7th February staff rolled up their sleeves and working alongside a team from Trident Housing Association, local contractors Phillip Cook and Laker, staff and family from the Hollymore Centre in Manor Park Grove, Birmingham all set about clearing a derelict room at the Centre, getting it ready to house a great functional space for a new youth club.

Friendship’s contractors Phillip Cook, kindly donated a skip for the day and Laker, helped out by donating the help of the Balsall Heath Forum to assist clearing the site.

Sally Debiage, Friendship’s Customer Involvement Officer said, “There is very little for the kids to do in the area.   Over the past 12 months we’ve been working very closely with the local community and building relationships to find out what’s needed in the area.  We’re now in a position to give something back. We made great start on Friday, I’m excited to get cracking on the next phase of the project now, where we will be painting and decorating the room, with the help of Community Payback. We will also be looking for local residents to volunteer too!”
