Community Gateway Association (CGA) celebrated the laying of the first bricks at its newest housing development “Meadow House”
The development is part of CGA’s ongoing programme and commitment to build affordable homes in Preston.
Sixteen new homes are being developed with funding from the Homes and Communities with assistance from Adactus.
Work started at the site in October 2013, CGA’s Chair Irene Bailey and Dave Warlow Director of Community Regeneration, joined other tenants and guests as they laid a brick to celebrate the first stage of the construction.
“Meadow House” follows in the footsteps of CGA’s other developments at Patterdale Close Adelphi Street, Howarth Road and Larches.
In 2012/13 the organisation developed over 90 new homes.
The site which was a former sheltered scheme is adjacent to the St Ignatius conservation area and architects have created a development that complements the local area.
The new homes are being constructed by local developer Whittle Construction.
Irene Bailey, CGA Chair commenting at the ceremony said; “I am privileged to be here as we lay the foundations to our fantastic new development. Meadow House is in the heart of a thriving community and this development will provide much needed affordable housing in Preston.”
Work started at the site in October 2013, and the new homes will be ready for new tenants in November 2014.
