Worthing Homes chief executive Robin King will retire at the end of March after 15 years in the post.
King started out as housing manager at Worthing Borough Council in January 1989. He was appointed chief executive of Worthing Homes in December 1998.
In a statement, Worthing Homes said King was "instrumental in establishing the company and helping to shape its future when the stock transfer happened in 1999; indeed this year will see us complete our 1,000th home".
King will work with the board to find a new chief executive. During the interim period, the Senior Management Team of Julian Pitcher, Moira James and Robin Roberts will oversee the running of the business.
Worthing Homes provides homes for 10,000 customers in the Sussex coastal area and is part of the Sappling Housing partnership.
